MySpot: In the Street’s Burn

"God, it was hot!
Forget about frying an egg on the sidewalk;
this kind of heat would fry an egg inside the chicken."

Rachel Caine

The Free and Open Prairie

"As long as skies are blue, and fields are green
Evening must usher night, night urge the morrow,
Month follow month with woe, and year wake year to sorrow."

Percy Bysshe Shelley

MySpot: Brasov - Lost to Love

"I'll be looking for you (...) every moment, every single moment.
And when we do find each other again,
we'll cling together so tight that nothing and no one'll ever tear us apart.
Every atom of me and every atom of you...
We'll live in birds and flowers and dragonflies and pin trees and in clouds
and in those little specks of light you see floating in sunbeams...
And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won't just be able to take one,
they'll have to take two, one of you and one of me,
we'll be joined so tight."

MySpot: Brasov - Retracing

The location of the city
at the intersection of trade routes linking the Ottoman Empire and western Europe,
together with certain tax exemptions,
allowed Saxon merchants to obtain considerable wealth
and exert a strong political influence in the region.
This was reflected in the city's German name, Kronstadt,
as well as in its Latin name, Corona,
meaning Crown City (hence, the coat of arms of the city which is a crown with oak roots).

Fortifications were erected around the city and continually expanded,
with several towers maintained by different craft guilds, according to medieval custom.

Nearby are towering mountains, rolling fields, thick forests
and villages with fortified churches.

MySpot: Brasov - City Walking

"I still don’t know which month it was then
or what day it is now.
I replace cafés with crowded bars and empty roads with broken bottles
and this town is healing me slowly
but still not slow or fast enough
because there’s no right way to do this."

The Rope Street is 80 m long and its width is between 111 cm and 135 cm.
It is mentioned in official documents from the 17th century
as a street which aided the work of firefighters.

Brasov - The Fog of the Early Dawn

"A thin grey fog hung over the city,
and the streets were very cold."

Rudyard Kipling
